Learning The Parable Of The Sower

By teaching with parables, Jesus was able to explain abstract ideas in a way that people throughout Judea could relate to. Not only did this help them make a connection between their everyday lives and spiritual truth, but it also gave these truths sticking power.
Jesus’ disciples needed to understand that not everyone would be open to the gospel message. I challenge you to be like the good soil in Jesus’ parable. After he was finished he would cover the The Parable of the Sower For Children seeds over with soil and then wait for the plants to grow. While Jesus was with his disciples and went around teaching to all the crowds who came to hear him, He often spoke in parables.

The person whose heart is like the good soil hears the good news about God and receives it. He bears fruit, more than what was planted. He who opens people’s ears so that they hear the word and treasure Jesus above all else. The soil is your heart. Also, use this time to take the topic where the students want to go. Pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal to them what truths he wants them to learn from the story, and help them understand how this story can be applied to their lives.
Jesus had some wise words to share about how people use their talents in a very famous story. When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. By the prompting of the Holy Spirit in response to His Word, you can encourage your children to surrender their lives to God and present the Gospel to them.

Create, videotape and watch commercials selling products or services that help us learn God’s Word. The seed in this parable represents God’s word, the message of God’s love spread about like the seed in the parable. If you would like to use the Parable of the Sower Character element of the lesson: before class prepare pictures or have puppets that represent the characters that will be introduced to the students.
The first hearts Jesus addresses are those that are never able to internalize the gospel because it’s snatched away by the evil one. There’s more to growing plants than just dropping seeds in the ground. Ask the children to each name one thing they learned from these two parables.
