Regular puffs of smoke and lava flows were a big draw for years after but subsided in 2010 and the top of Arenal is often covered by cloud during the day. That said, at Tabacón you’re in prime position to take an early morning look outside to check the view and retreat back to bed. GQ stayed in a well-equipped ground floor room which opened out onto a small garden where hummingbirds came to feed from the plants. The water in the shower and bathroom is heated from the geothermal springs. One of the great attractions of Guanacaste is that it is typically the driest and hottest part of Costa Rica. As a result, the hotel is able to offer a reliable daily run of organised activities. Each cabin is named after a species of flora found nearby.
You will also find plenty of ISA Certified surfing schools and instructors everywhere around Playa Guiones. Parque Nacional Simón Bolívar (Zoológico Simón Bolívar) is an urban park of approximately 14 hectares, located in downtown San José, Costa Rica. It is the oldest botanical garden and zoo in Costa Rica. The name pays homage to Latin American national founder Simón Bolívar. It is administered by a conservation nonprofit foundation called Fundazoo.

The pods are a nice touch and comfy to sleep in. The social areas are good, and the food is decent for what you pay. The customer service on the front desk is good as well. My only gripe would be maybe that it’s a little far out of downtown San José but the buses are easily accessible and easy to navigate. The noise from the street can be a little loud at night so if you want quiet I’d suggest asking for a room at the back of the hostel. The rooms are nice and big and the bathrooms are excellent. It is a little out of the city and the place itself is pretty dead, but if you’re treating it like a hotel you’ll really enjoy it.
We greatly enjoyed the fact that we chose monteverde luxury. Our room looked out at Cloud Forest which was a plus. Sabor Tico is adjacent to the hotel, about 150 metres away. Those who prefer pool swimming might enjoy a hot tub. AmenitiesDon’t miss out on recreational opportunities including an outdoor pool and a fitness center.

It is no longer simply enough to not destroy the place you vacation. Instead, the trend is to preserve, improve, and lift up the areas where we go on holiday. Now, not everyone can afford to travel this way. However, there actually are a lot of options that allow individuals, couples, and families to travel slowly. It isn’t much of a stretch to take “working from home” sometimes to “working from anywhere” often.

Another laid-back hostel, In the Wind has a cool outdoor area for hanging out and having BBQs, offers free breakfast , and has awesome staff. It’s also super clean, which is always a plus in any hostel.
This colorful backpacker hostel is covered in art and murals. It has a cozy, homey vibe while still being well maintained and clean. The mattresses are a little thin (and the bunks don’t have curtains), but the hostel is quiet and laid back, so it’s easy to get a decent night’s sleep. It’s close to the bus station as well, making it a convenient location if you’re just passing through or heading to/from the airport. And, if you’re an artist, you can trade your skills for free accommodation. This is a chill hostel with cozy beds and lots of common space.
