It was built by Chiang Kai-shek in memory of his mother in 1971. The construction was very difficult because the materials had to be shipped over the lake and moved up the mountain. The Ci En Pagoda 伴手禮品牌 is 46 meters in height and has become the famous landmark of Sun Moon Lake. Visit SuSu Second-Hand Bookstore & Guesthouse in the city center and play with the local owners’ two pet cats who call the shelves their home.

We travelled to my home island, where the practice of tapa art had stopped, and brought it back to life by working on two large ngatu with the women in the village. A documentary was made to complement the exhibition, ‘Falevai Flava’ at Mangere Arts Centre. Pauline Adalid made another short documentary about Tui and I, ‘Back In The Water House’, and it played during an exhibition of our tapa art and weaving at Corbans Estate Art Centre in West Auckland. Last September, after working in higher education and outreach for over a decade, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue my art practice full-time. Highlight for today is visitingKenting National Park, one of the most beautifully reserved natural forests in Taiwan. It is located at the south of Taiwan with popular beach bordering on the tropical region of Taiwan where palm tree, banana trees, sugar cane and surfing beach are part of the scene. The natural landscape like wave erosion caves, ditches, and pillars are amazing along with the enjoyable sea view. The tour continues to travel to Taitung via the Scenic Southern Link Highway.
The mixture of participating artists allowed us to tautoko some well-known names as well as emerging talents working in a variety of mediums. Later, relax in the thermal springs or take a swim in the pool back at the hotel. En route to San Jose, visit Sarchi Village, known as the centre of Costa Rican handcrafts and where you will see the artists in their workshops making the famous oxcarts. Next stop is Grecia Village to see the metal church that was imported from Belgium to Puerto Limon in 1897. The church was transported by oxcarts to its present-day location, but sat in the plaza for 10 years before being reconstructed.

It’s great for all ages and levels of fitness as guides and gravity do most of the work. Sushi has been elevated to an artform in Japan and eating in the right place can be a transcendental experience. There are some 4,000 sushi restaurants in Japan’s quirky capital, ranging from traditional Edomae eateries to futuristic, and often cheaper,kaitenzushi where you can pluck dishes from a conveyor belt. While the famous Tsukiji fish market closed in 2018 , many of the eateries that make up Tsukiji’s outer market are still open — and are still an affordable spot to get a high-quality, fresh sushi breakfast.
Imagine yourself soaring high above the jungle floor as you zipline through the treetops, eye-to-eye with the lush foliage and exotic rainforest creatures for some ‘Family Fun’. Later, head south to Manuel Antonio, renowned for its warm blue waters, beautiful beaches and abundant exotic wildlife. Leave your gringo boots at the door and embrace the Pura Vida playground of Costa Rica.
